Why it plays better

Elite-level setup, without the tournament queue.

Every racket is strung on professional equipment by a UKRSA-certified stringer — the same standard you'd expect at a national tournament desk, five minutes from Arborfield Green.

Electronic constant pull

The machine actively re-pulls as the string relaxes, so every main and every cross reaches the exact tension you asked for — no drop-off between the first string and the last.

6-point mounting

Six contact points support the frame instead of two, spreading the load and protecting your racket from distortion — essential on stiff, high-modulus frames and at higher tensions.

Two-piece stringing

Mains and crosses are strung separately, so I can set a different tension for each — the usual elite request being crosses 1–2 lb above mains for a crisper, more controlled bed.

UKRSA certified

Trained and assessed by the UK Racket Stringers Association, so knotting, tensioning and frame care all follow a recognised professional standard.

Tension to your spec

Tell me the numbers and they're what you get. Not sure? Tell me your level, racket and what you want from it, and I'll recommend a string and tension that fits.

Fast when you need it

Turnaround starts at one hour when I have a slot free. Caught short before a match or tournament? Say so when you message and I'll fit you in if I can.

How it works

A drop-off and pick-up service.

Three steps, all arranged over WhatsApp. Drop-off and collection times are flexible, including evenings and weekends.

Message me

Send a WhatsApp with your racket, the string you'd like and your tension — or just tell me how you play and I'll advise. I'll confirm a drop-off time that works for you.

Drop the racket off

Bring it to Archer Grove, Arborfield Green (RG2 9TB). It takes a minute — hand it over, and you're free to get on with your day.

Collect when it's ready

I'll message you as soon as it's strung — sometimes within the hour — and we'll sort out a convenient time for you to pick it up.

Please note: this is a drop-off and pick-up service only — there's no wait-in stringing. Your racket stays with me between the two visits so it can be strung properly and given time to settle before you collect it.

Choosing your tension

Higher isn't always better.

Contrary to common belief, high tension won't send your clears further. Lower tension gives you more distance but is harder to control; higher tension gives accuracy but demands cleaner technique and more strength. My recommendations:

20–23lb

Casual players

Generous power and a forgiving sweet spot while your technique is still developing.

24–26lb

Intermediate club players

The balanced middle ground — enough control to place shots, enough help to clear the court.

27–30lb

Advanced players

Crisp, precise and unforgiving. Best paired with a strong arm and a consistent swing.

Elite specs welcome. Higher tensions and separate main / cross tensions are all part of the service at no extra cost — just tell me the numbers when you drop the racket off.

Questions

Everything else you might want to know.

How long does a badminton restring take?
It depends on how busy I am, but turnaround starts at one hour — if I have a slot free when you drop the racket off, you can have it back the same visit-and-a-bit. Caught short before a match or tournament? Say so when you message me and I'll do what I can to fit you in.
Do you offer wait-in stringing?
No — this is a drop-off and pick-up service. Your racket stays with me between the two visits, which means it gets strung properly and has time to settle before you play with it.
Where are you based, and which areas do you cover?
Archer Grove, Arborfield Green, Wokingham RG2 9TB, with parking right outside. Players regularly drop rackets off from Arborfield, Shinfield, Wokingham, Reading, Earley, Bracknell, Camberley and the surrounding Berkshire and Surrey villages.
What tension should I ask for?
As a rough guide: 20–23 lb for casual players, 24–26 lb for intermediate club players and 27–30 lb for advanced players. Higher tension gives control and accuracy but demands cleaner technique — it won't send your clears further. If you're not sure, tell me your racket, your level and what you want from the string, and I'll recommend a setup.
Can I have different tensions on the mains and crosses?
Yes. I string two-piece, so mains and crosses are tensioned independently — the common elite request is crosses 1–2 lb above the mains for a crisper, more controlled string bed. There's no extra charge for it; just give me the numbers when you drop the racket off.
Can I bring my own string?
Yes — fitting your own string is £22, labour only. Same machine, same care as any other restring.
Can you change my grip at the same time?
Yes. A replacement grip or overgrip is £5 fitted, and it's free of charge alongside any restring.
What does UKRSA certified actually mean?
The UK Racket Stringers Association trains and assesses stringers against a recognised professional standard, covering tensioning, knotting, weaving and frame care. It means your racket is handled the way it would be at a tournament stringing desk, not on a kitchen table.
How do I book a restring?
Message me on WhatsApp with your racket, the string you'd like and your tension. I'll confirm a drop-off time, then message you as soon as the racket is ready.

Ready for a fresh bed of strings?

Send me a message with your racket and how you play. I'll recommend a string and tension, and have you back on court fast.
